We rented the social area of the church for our wedding, and I cannot strongly enough caution others away. The administrator forgot about our first scheduled meeting, and when finally she arrived (after being called by a key-carrying volunteer who just happened to show up) she talked at length about her 3 divorces and how marriage is a crock (I don't judge others for their relationship history, but maybe not the best topic when we're planning on paying you a thousand dollars for our wedding). She would not work with us to schedule times for completing payments and paperwork, touring the facility, or handing over keys, then was mocking when I showed up without my fiancé for a meeting. When I asked basic questions about things like if we would have access to sound equipment or times we could access certain areas, responses were unduly snarky ("We got tired of people breaking our stuff" is not a necessary answer when I ask if we have access to the track lights and "You can have access whenever you want to start paying me" is not a helpful answer). The area we rented was absolutely FILTHY when we arrived for our wedding (dirty counter tops, insect graveyard in the window sills, layer of filth on the cushioned seats by the windows), yet our full deposit was not returned because the janitor didn't like the positioning of the tables in the storage closet. There were other events going on the day of our wedding which we were not told about, despite our explicitly asking, including a meeting of some sort across the hall from where the women were told to change, a church service during our reception (we respect others' right to worship and would readily have pushed our reception back so they didn't have deal with our revelry), and power washing the porch at the time we should have been having our wedding photos taken. I don't even have the patience right now to address the multiple ADA violations. Thank you, Cheryl Craig, for making what should have been the most joyous day of my life far more stressful than it needed to be.
